The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced Thursday there are currently 547 of its alumni on U Sports men’s hockey rosters across the country this season.

Each of the 35 participating Canadian university men’s hockey programs have a minimum of five CJHL alumni on each of their respective rosters, with many of the schools sitting in double digits in this category.

“We commend all of our alumni who have put in the commitment to not only continue their hockey careers, but also further their education at the USPORTS level,” said CJHL president Andy Harkness.

“The extended dedication put forth by the staffs of our member teams, and those among the nine respective leagues that comprise the CJHL, in supporting these initiatives, is a testament to the dedication provided, both on and off ice, by all involved.”

Of the current 122 CJHL clubs, seven of them have 15, or more, of their former players on U Sports teams this season.

Manitoba Bisons boast the most players (23), followed by Trinity Western Spartans (7), Regina Cougars (6), York Lions (5) and Lakehead Thunderwolves (4).
