The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Rimouski Oceanic will host the 2025 Memorial Cup, announced the Canadian Hockey League.
It will mark the return of the CHL championship series, featuring the host city and the champions of the QMJHL, Ontario Hockey League and Western Hockey League, to Quebec for the first time in a decade.
Rimouski, which beat out a rival bid from the Shawinigan Cataractes, is hosting the Memorial Cup for the second time. The last time the Quebec community played host was 2009.
The Oceanic have appeared in the Memorial Cup in 2000, 2005, 2009 and 2015 since joining the QMJHL in 1995.
They won the tournament in 2000 with a team featuring Brad Richards, who went on to win two Stanley Cups in the NHL.
Pittsburgh Penquins captain Sidney Crosby led the Oceanic to the 2005 Memorial Cup final, where his team lost 4-0 to the host OHL’s London Knights.
