• 40 YEARS AGO — Dave Nackoney scored 20 points to lead Vincent Massey Vikings to a 55-38 playoff win facing the visiting Neelin Spartans in a Brandon High School Basketball League game.
• 30 YEARS AGO — June Little’s Brandon foursome of third Bertha Geysen, second Evelyn McLennon and lead Vera Skayman, captured the Golden Gals provincial curling title with a 9-7 triumph over Pilot Mound’s Fay McCannell in the A-B final.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Kent Schilltroth had three goals and five assists to lead the Reston Rockets to a 9-4 victory facing the Pierson Bruins and a three-game sweep of their best-of-five SouthWest Hockey League quarterfinal.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Jordan Greig of Souris scored a pair of goals and set up two others for the Virden Oil Capitals as they scored four unanswered markers in the third period to earn a 6-3 Manitoba Junior Hockey League win facing the visiting Neepawa Natives.
