• 60 YEARS AGO — Tim Janz scored three goals to pace the Boissevain Border Kings to a 7-3 romp over the Cartwright Clippers in a SouthWest Hockey League game.
• 50 YEARS AGO — The Moscow Circus was out on the golf course today shattering one of their personal records set in 1968 for late season golfing. Three members of the Circus, a name given to the golfing fraternity of John Shopka, Charlie Badowich, Albert Page, John Budinski and the statistician of the game Frankie Majcher, hit the links at the currently closed Brandon Golf and Country Club.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Matt Johnson scored three goals to pace Spectrum Sports to a 7- 3 win over host Minnedosa Bombers in a SouthWest Hockey League game.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Mike Stott scored 21 points and hauled in 10 rebounds to lead the Crocus Plainsmen to a 75-63 victory over the Neelin Spartans in the opening game of the Brandon High School Basketball League’s varsity boys’ regular season. Greg Roziere added 12 points for the winners.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Sarah Lopes piled up 28 points to lead the Neelin Spartans varsity girls to an 81-35 win over the Westgate Wings in the U of M Preseason Invitational basketball tournament.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Travis Sanheim will spend the next five days trying to cross another item off his hockey bucket list. The dynamic defenceman from Elkhorn will hit the ice with some of Canada’s best young players tonight in Toronto as they battle for spots on the national junior team.
