60 YEARS AGOCharlie Quinn and his foursome of Garth Forsythe, Del Buchanan and Cliff Haines staged a dramatic comeback at the Brandon Curling Club to nail down top honours in the MacArthur competition in the annual Travellers Bonspiel.

50 YEARS AGONancy Sharratt scored 16 points to lead the Vincent Massey Vikings of Brandon to a 39-25 victory over Dakota Lancerettes and the championship of the high school girls’ division in the Golden Boy basketball classic.

40 YEARS AGO Howard Hole scored with just 2:25 remaining to give the Boissevain Border Kings a 4-3 triumph over the visiting Souris Elks in the SouthWest Hockey League. Tim Janz, Ken Hole and Don Campbell also scored for Boissevain.

20 YEARS AGOMike Cann is getting ready to take on the world. The 16-year-old Brandon Wheat Kings rookie defenceman from Cochrane, Alta., will suit up for Team Pacific in the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Lethbridge, Alta.
