Ron Cornell shot an even-par 72 to climb into a tie for fifth in the final round of the Golf Manitoba senior men’s championship at Glendale Golf and Country Club on Wednesday.

The Clear Lake Golf Course member birdied three of the last four holes to tie champion Todd Fanning (-2) for the low round of the day and finish the three-round event at 10 over.

As one of the top seven players, Cornell earned a spot at the Golf Canada senior men’s championship next month.

Oak Island Resort member Cameron Duncan withdrew after entering the final round in the top 10.

In the senior women’s event, Rhonda Orr shot 76 to finish the week 19 over and win her 10th straight title by 20 strokes. » The Brandon Sun
