EDMONTON – Alberta’s police watchdog says an Edmonton officer has been charged in the shooting of a man suspected in a bar stabbing.
Police were called in March 2024 to the stabbing at a west Edmonton pub.
Soon after, police located a suspect in a truck.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team says an officer “engaged the driver, which resulted in that officer firing their service pistol.”
The 36-year-old was taken to hospital in stable condition.
Sgt. Neil Thompson faces one count of aggravated assault.
He is scheduled to appear in court in October.
This report by The Canadian Press was first published Sept. 5, 2025.
