LONGUEUIL – Police say a premature baby boy was abandoned Sunday night outside a home on Montreal’s South Shore.
Longueuil police say someone left the boy on the porch of the home at around 11 p.m., rang the doorbell and fled.
The occupants found the newborn and called 911.
Police say medical authorities determined the boy was born after 34 weeks’ gestation.
Officer Jacqueline Pierre says police and paramedics provided care for the boy at the scene and transported the newborn to hospital.
Police have not identified the person who allegedly abandoned the baby, and say they do not know who the parents are.
