Tom Friesen posted seven kills as the Brandon University Bobcats lost 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-12) to the host UBC Thunderbirds in their Canada West men’s volleyball season opener in Vancouver on Friday.

Dawson Pratt led all hitters with 12 kills for the T-Birds.

UBC had 40 kills and seven errors while BU put up 20 and 16.

The women’s match ended after deadline.

The teams meet again today.
