LETHBRIDGE – The lawyer for a Calgary man charged with attempted murder after three pedestrians were struck by a vehicle and injured in a Lethbridge parking lot is seeking a private psychological assessment for his client.
Lethbridge police responded to several 911 calls on Oct. 10 reporting a vehicle struck multiple pedestrians in the parking lot of the Visitlethbridge.com arena and narrowly missed two others.
Investigators say the driver who fled the scene, later hit another vehicle and eventually was arrested, was not impaired at the time of the incidents and the victims were all unknown to him.
A 77-year-old woman, a 77-year-old man and a 46-year-old male sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to hospital in stable condition.
Christopher David Hegg, 47, of Calgary, is facing multiple charges, including five counts of attempted murder.
The matter is scheduled to return to court Nov. 25.
