BRIDGEWATER, N.S – Police in Nova Scotia say a youth in the province and one from Manitoba were allegedly planning simultaneous attacks at their local schools.
The Bridgewater Police Service says it received information on Friday from Interpol and the FBI that a 15-year-old youth from the town and a Manitoba youth were discussing online their desire to mount a violent attack on students at Parkview Education Centre and Rivers Collegiate.
They say the attack was not believed to be imminent, but that some thought and planning went into the idea.
Officers searched a home in the town and found handwritten plans, imitation weapons, a roughly made imitation pipe bomb and assault rifle, and clothing with hate symbols.
The youth was charged with conspiracy to commit murder, uttering threats, and police say it’s currently investigating whether charges relating to hate crime and other offences can be laid.
A release from Bridgewater police says Manitoba RCMP have arrested a youth in the province.
