CALGARY – A Calgary man accused of killing his two young children remains in custody after making a brief court appearance.

The 37-year-old, who faces two counts of first-degree murder, showed no emotion as he appeared on video from detention wearing a blue shirt.

Court heard he has a lawyer who is waiting for more information in the case, and he’s next scheduled to appear June 5.

Police say the man was separated from the children’s mother and had picked them up for a visit last week, but they didn’t return.

They say he called 911 the next morning, and officers found the bodies of the three-year-old girl and five-year-old boy in the back of an SUV.

A publication ban prevents identifying the children and the accused.
