ALEXANDRIA, MINNESOTA – A 37-year-old man reportedly abducted from Winnipeg has been found and a 31-year-old Manitoba man arrested in Minnesota, U.S. authorities say.

On Saturday, North Dakota Highway Patrol says it was alerted to the possible abduction in Manitoba that had crossed the U.S-Canadian border into North Dakota.

They say investigators tracked the suspect’s vehicle with cameras, cellphone location information, messages, and licence plate reader technology, leading them to Alexandria, Minn.

They say the victim was able to break free and run into a nearby store, and the suspect was soon taken into custody by the Douglas County Sheriffs Office and Alexandria Police.

The state patrol says cross-border co-ordination helped bring the abduction to a safe conclusion.

They say they’re still investigating, and not releasing further details at this time.
