Hey there, time traveller!

Progressive Conservative MLA Cliff Cullen questioned the NDP government this week in the legislature about the condition of the lower campgrounds at Spruce Woods Provincial Park.
Cullen wanted to know whether the park his constituency is named after would be cleaned up in time for the 2012 camping season.
“Due to this government’s inability to protect the park … considerable damage was done to the park,” Cullen said. “At this point, no action has been taken in the park. Why hasn’t the government taken action?”
Emergency Measures Minister Steve Ashton deflected the inquiry with a general answer about historic levels of flooding.
So the Brandon Sun also made an inquiry about when the park might be spruced up.
A government spinner offered these comments:
• Our plans are to ensure at minimum the beach area including access, parking and washroom facilities are in order to for use in summer 2012, but there is a lot of work to do to make this happen.
•Given the extent of the flooding and the length of time buildings and structures were submerged, it is anticipated that it will be a costly and lengthy cleanup and reconstruction effort.
So in other words, don’t hold your breath for a for a favourite campground to be reopened.
