Hey there, time traveller!

Dear Manitoba Progressive Conservative leadership candidate Wally Daudrich:
I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, for which I am a proud member, to address your transphobic and public Facebook comments as of late.
Full human rights in any country should be granted without saying. For everyone. The 2SLGBTQIA+ is no exception. Human rights protect everyone. They dignify everyone. They empower everyone.
Equal rights for all in a civilized society show that the community officially values it’s citizens. Human rights set a valuable example for other communities to demonstrate that unity among many diverse people from all walks of life is easily possible and so they can live in harmony. Even very large workplaces themselves within a community can attest to this by their diverse workforce. They easily thrive. No person, as such should ever have to live in fear in this day and age due to hate and violent rhetoric fostered by bigotry.
You cannot say you fully appreciate the rights you have or their importance to your life, while simultaneously thinking that they should only be a privilege, opposed to a give in for everyone.
If you show me a bigoted person against transgender people and gender-affirming care, I will show you that the same person is willfully ignorant for not researching facts about them, easily attainable from the authorities having jurisdiction such as the Canadian Medical Association. Because if they weren’t, medical science would easily dispel any mis-, mal- or disinformation that they have chosen to believe for their intentional lack of willingness to apply critical thinking and, therefore, understand. Therefore, all you are left with in such a case, is unjustified hate. Lack of knowledge in this day and age is really therefore inexcusable. As well, you would see that trans women are real women as proven by real science, which does not lie.
Far-right political parties worldwide need the children’s versus parental rights issue as a wedge to divide people by weaponizing children. After all, who would not see protecting children as a five-alarm threat? False information is the main tool of the far-right extreme parties. It shocks, scares and angers people into dangerous extremism activation using false information, psychology and charm. Accompanying violence is often never far behind.
Such tactics are a diversion and or desperate attempt to attain or keep political power where people would otherwise not vote for them due to that party’s short comings or past failures. Transgender people, particularly student youth, are the most visibly targeted, most misunderstood and physically, emotionally and mentally vulnerable in such a situation. Trans people’s lives are a living, never-ending conversion therapy gauntlet as a result. How unhealthy, fragile and stressed would you be if society decided to make you a hunted prey, despite living in a society that has legally granted you a full complement of human rights designed to protect you?
Who is really therefore, intentionally and irreparably harming children, trans children?
As well, many trans kids live in not so welcoming and understanding homes. This is why children have rights. Outing queer or questioning children in schools can put them at extreme risk by not recognizing and respecting their rights. Violence and hate of trans people is at an all time high worldwide. When you see a small child at a trans hate rally making a gun shooting motion at a trans person walking by while their parents encourage him, you have just seen the type of home in which a trans child would be very distraught and in great danger.
As a person, if you don’t value human rights for all, then you don’t deserve them yourself. As well, human rights are the foundation of a civilized democratic society. If you don’t believe in them, then you truly don’t believe, nor deserve to live in an equal democratic country, never mind representing it as a so-called vote empowered, trusted and privileged MLA or MP because you don’t serve or represent all people who legally and morally have value, rather just those people who share your antiquated, bigoted views and beliefs.
Shame on you, Wally Daudrich! Any political party, MLA or MP should truly represent all the people and should therefore be humanitarian first and foremost. Endangering human rights should never be allowed as a political issue for their platform. This is a form of genocide as you are diminishing a people and as such, limiting or eradicating their existence. It’s time to start building bridges between us, using bricks from tearing down extreme right political party partisan walls.
WENDY FRIESEN
