Lady of the Lake, a beautiful and well-known venue that is so many things wrapped up into one exquisite package. A unique shopping experience, delicious home cooked healthy food, music, socializing, all in a beautiful visual environment. A feast for all the senses.
Lady of the Lake has quite the history — established in Boissevain in 1996, relocating to Brandon in 1998, the building being destroyed by fire in 2005, spending two years in temporary locations and finally establishing their permanent home located at 17th Street North in 2007.
Lady of the Lake will survive anything and is still one of Brandon’s most popular hot spots if you are looking for something to do.
Every Friday, Lady of the Lake features live music along with $10 dinner features and, on Aug. 11, they hosted a reggae night. “Lyon I,” Roots Rock Reggae, a local Brandon band, entertained a full house as people grooved and danced the night away to the smooth sultry reggae beat. Playing songs by Bob Marley, Desmond Dekker, Matisyahu, The Specials, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad and much more, they kept people dancing all evening.
The group, comprised of Rodney Addison, Jeremy Johnston, Peter Gwyer, Brian Pettigrew, Katrina Sargent and Kaleigh Stobbe, really kept the groove going.
Restaurant manager Miranda Stobbe said that Lady of the Lake will be having another reggae night soon so be sure to keep checking out the website ladyofthelake.ca for updates.
Be sure to mark your calendar for Friday, Aug. 25! The evening at Lady of the Lake will begin with yoga and wine at the popular Namaste and Drink event followed by rhythm and blues as the Chris Ghidoni Band takes the stage.
» Mariah Phillips is a longtime Brandon resident and lead singer in the band Misty Street. She will be dropping into many of the major social events in the Wheat City. This column will run regularly, depending on the community’s social calendar. If you have an event you think deserves notice in the Sun, send information to opinion@brandonsun.com.
