Opinion

Hey there, time traveller!

After spending two years at a temporary location, Sutton-Harrison Realty has settled into its new office space on 18th Street.

Husband-and-wife team Kit and Sue Harrison bought the Sutton franchise just over 10 years ago. They initially started their real estate company out of their home, but quickly realized they needed a more visible location. A decade later and with a few moves under their belt, they are anxious to settle into their new space.

“We’re really excited about this new location. We’ve been dreaming about it for a long time. We wanted to have an office that was convenient for our agents and our clients and we wanted a place with higher exposure,” Sue Harrison said.

Making the move to a new building isn’t the only change that Sutton-Harrison Realty has taken on over the last year. They have also redeveloped and rebranded the business.

“Part of our rebranding is to have a fresh, modern, high-tech look inside as well as outside and still have a welcoming atmosphere. The finishing of the office is the completion of our rebranding and redevelopment of our whole company,” Sue Harrison said.

The firm has 28 agents and two employees who provide office support. As part of the redevelopment, the company is hoping to expand even further and made changes it hopes will result in strong business growth.

“In the last six months, we started selling shares in our business. We wanted to grow the business, and this is how we decided to make that happen. We now have six partners, some of which are our agents,” Kit Harrison said.

Since they have exclusive rights with Sutton to all of Manitoba (outside Winnipeg city limits) they are also hoping to increase their business within the province.

“We think there is a strong rural market and would definitely like to expand our presence in rural Manitoba,” Kit Harrison said.

The Harrisons agree that expanding into a different market is possible because of modern technology and the training program they have in place for new agents.

“Training is a cost of the business that gets buried, but is so essential for rapid growth of an individual. Our whole focus is to bring agents into a successful scenario. By training and increasing that focus we see wonderful results in a short period of time,” Kit Harrison said.

“We’re really proud of our staff. The training allows them to become better realtors and better people. As they grow and reach their goals, it’s very satisfying. It’s a fun part of our business,” Sue Harrison said.

While the new location fits with many of the other changes they’ve made within the company, they are hoping it’s their last move.

“I’m never moving offices again — never,” laughs Sue Harrison. “We’re getting a taste of our own medicine!”

Combined with a Chamber After Five event, the Sutton-Harrison Realty grand opening will be held on Thursday, Sept. 18, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at its new location, 99 18th St. For more information, visit suttonbrandonrealestate.com.

Attention Chiro Patients

The Natural Wellness Clinic is pleased to announce that it will now be seeing chiropractic patients of Dr. Kaveh Elahiyoun.

Elahiyoun closed his clinic, the Optimal Care Wellness Clinic at 2533 Victoria Ave., on June 30 after relocating to Winnipeg. He did, however, leave his patients in good hands (pun intended!) and had the files transferred to Dr. Manish Chaudhari.

Chaudhari has been at the Natural Wellness Clinic for seven years and is looking forward to meeting and treating new patients from Brandon and surrounding communities. He is a graduate of the Western States University in Portland, Ore.

The Natural Wellness Clinic, owned by Dr. Katheryn Tessier, is located at 131 18th St. It has been in operation for nine years and offers a variety of alternative health care options including chiropractic, naturopathic and massage therapy. Contact the clinic by calling 204-729-9231.
