Mr. O’Connor has been offended so he must switch parties. Let us take a look at the party he now supports.

Under the NDP, Manitobans have been forced to endure the largest tax increase since Howard Pawley, $184 million in new taxes when they promised no tax increase, more than $100 million in fee increases, two NDP cabinet ministers who broke the elections law, the highest debt and deficit levels in Manitoba history and yet another flood caused by NDP mismanagement. The NDP has broadened the PST so that there is little that is not taxed in its relentless march to bring in the HST, or harmonized sales tax, to Manitoba. They promised they would not bring in the HST, but we know how little their promises are worth.

Mr. Pallister has an opportunity to lead Manitoba to a new level of prosperity, much like what Premier Brad Wall has done in Saskatchewan. Manitoba has all those opportunities and more, but the NDP government in Manitoba has chosen to ignore or limit that growth. We have opportunities in the mining sector, the oil industry, huge new growth and opportunities in agriculture and a need for Manitoba Hydro to be able to provide timely service to their customers in Manitoba.

Mr. O’Connor had the choice of doom, debt and deficits with the NDP or an opportunity to create an economic powerhouse with the Progressive Conservatives. Interesting choice, Mr. O’Connor. I trust that once he has sampled the exotic parties, like the Communists or the NDP, that he will return to his senses and support the Tories once again.
