War in Ukraine

Destruction and/or slaughter on a mass scale is nothing less than a holocaust. Such occurrences in the early 21st century are something I would never have entertained as being a part of my senior years. It’s gut wrenching to see pictorial accounts and hear the narratives alluding to war crimes. And worse, feeling helpless. I do support politicians as this has, unlike COVID-19, been precipitated by abhorrent human nature and intervention, and resolution must come from human decisions and actions. Mr. Putin will go down in history as an orchestrator of war crimes. I wonder if he knows that the hole he ends up in will be no bigger than mine. The only difference: mine will have visitors.

Slow down

Why is everyone in a rush on the road? Operating a motor vehicle comes with great responsibility and we must share the road. Too many people are risking lives when they zip across intersections, trying to make it before the oncoming vehicle arrives. Guess what — waiting 10 seconds isn’t going to put you far behind in life. Waiting those 10 seconds may save a life. Slow down.

Catch and release

You really have to feel for the Brandon police. They are out there every day trying to make our city safer and then we have the judges doing their catch and release program. Obviously, it isn’t working, because as soon as they are back on the street, the police are rearresting them so the judges can put them back out there. How frustrating for the police.
