After losing a 7-3 contest to Saskatchewan’s Elizabeth Kessel on Tuesday night, McCreary’s Zoey Terrick and her team from the Heather Curling Club in Winnipeg rebounded on Wednesday with a 7-5 victory over Northern Ontario’s Bella Croisier at the 2023 Canadian junior curling championships in Rouyn-Noranda, Que.

Terrick’s Manitoba 1 squad — which features her sisters Jaycee and Tessa, along with Jensen Letham — was second in Pool B play with a 4-1 record ahead of a matchup with Quebec 2’s Elizabeth Cyr this morning.

They wrap up their pool schedule by taking on Alberta 2’s Claire Booth tonight and Alberta 1’s Myla Plett on Friday morning.

Grace Beaudry’s Manitoba 2 team from the St. Vital is fourth in Pool A play with a 2-2 record.

In the men’s competition, Virden’s Jace Freeman and his Manitoba 2 rink was tied for second in Pool A with a 4-0 record ahead of a matchup with Jordon McDonald’s undefeated Manitoba 1 squad from the Deer Lodge.

Freeman, who is joined on his team by third Thomas McGillivray, second Ryan Ostrowsky and lead Aaron Macdonell, is back in action this afternoon against Prince Edward Island’s Chase MacMillan.

His final pool games are on Friday against Newfoundland & Labrador 2’s Desmond Young and Quebec 2’s Leandre Girard.

The event concludes on Sunday.
