Hey there, time traveller!

Bryan Zepeda just experienced a pain his future teammates know all too well right now.
The six-foot Brandon product has committed to his hometown Bobcats for the 2023-24 Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference men’s soccer season, as they look to reclaim their title after being upset in the 2022 outdoor soccer final.
The Vincent Massey Vikings winger lost the Brandon High School Soccer League title game 4-2 to the Crocus Plainsmen last week, and it’s serving as motivation for Zepeda next season.

“A lot of expectations with us, obviously we wanted to win but sadly it wasn’t possible,” Zepeda said. “It was a moment of staying focused on an objective.”
Zepeda grew up in El Salvador, moving to Brandon at age 11. He said he played for his school team there before joining Westman FC.
He has developed good vision for the game and knows where and when to make runs to become a goal-scoring threat. But Zepeda admits he got a little rusty during the COVID-19 pandemic and is working hard on his pace and finishing in hopes of cracking the Bobcat lineup next season.
He did enough to impress coach Glen McNabb at a spring ID camp and got a spot in a rookie class including Crocus star Edwin Cerquera — who netted two goals in the city final — Saskatchewan’s Zsombor Deak and Kapaya Chilufya and Morden’s Matt Wolfe.
“I’m looking forward to proving myself,” Zepeda said. “I know there’s not a lot of recognition around my name, not a lot of people know who I am but I’m looking forward to getting out there and getting known.
“I’m really excited to have this opportunity to train with such a great group, get to know more people and improve my skills.”
The Bobcats enter 2023-24 as defending MCAC futsal champions, but the biggest prize these days is the outdoor trophy as it comes with a trip to the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association national championship. That event is at Windsor, Ont.’s St. Clair College on Nov. 8-11.
The MCAC schedule is not out yet.
