Team West is holding tryouts 2024 Manitoba Summer Games baseball event in Dauphin starting on Aug. 11.

There are two development camps in Brandon on Nov. 26 and Dec. 10 at TC365. There are two sessions each day, running from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m. Cost $20.

Each region in Manitoba will run seasonal development camps, followed by open tryouts next May. Selection camps will happen in June for all age-eligible athletes looking to participate in the 2024 Manitoba Summer Games.

Team West coaches Brad Vandenberghe of Deloraine and Brandon’s Clark Whelpton will announce their final rosters on June 15, 2024, with team practices and exhibition games scheduled for June and July.

They are U14 teams, so players born in 2010 and 2011 can try out for the minor and major teams. Female athletes born in 2009 are also eligible to participate.

The Manitoba Summer Games are the province’s largest ongoing multi-sport program, bringing together participants from across the province.

The Games are held every two years and will alternate between summer and winter sports events. Each set of Games involves upwards of 7,500 athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers.
