Micky Gross of the Southwest Cougars has been named the Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League’s goaltender of the month after he picked up four wins in five starts, including a shutout.
Gross has posted a 2.20 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage to place him in the top-three in both categories. The Cornwallis native is in his second year with the Cougars, and is listed by the Virden Oil Capitals of the MJHL.
Brandon Corda of the Winnipeg Thrashers garnered forward of the month after contributing seven goals and nine assists in eight games. An alternate captain in his third year with the Thrashers, he is affiliated with the MJHL’s Selkirk Steelers.
The top defenceman of the month is Brock Assailly of the Winnipeg Bruins. The second-year player’s excellent play helped earn a commitment from the Niverville Nighthawks of the MJHL for the 2024-2025 season.
