• 60 YEARS AGO — Any hopes Eldon McLean of the Brandon Curling Club may have had of win- ning the club he started were dashed to the ice of his home club yesterday as he suffered an 8- 4 setback at the hands of the Bob Fines-Orv Shaw rink in the Club 14 semi-finals.

• 50 YEARS AGO — One Brandon team was a winner and another a near-winner as the Edina International Youth Hockey tournament wound up. The local Pee Wee A Reps upended South St. Paul in the final 3-1. Dean Goldstone had two goals and Neil Barr added a single.

• 40 YEARS AGO — Miniota’s Randy Still netted four goals and teammate Stan Hill added a hat trick as the Night Hawks routed visiting Erickson Vikings 11-6 in a North Central Hockey League game.

• 30 YEARS AGO — Lauren Anderson scored nine goals and added an assist to lead the Brandon Hawks to a 12-0 blowout of Pine Creek in an exhibition women’s hockey game. Erica Maddess added two goals, while Susan Addison added a goal and three assists.
