Hey there, time traveller!

With the festive season now a memory, junior hockey teams across Canada are looking to trade season to bolster rosters for the playoff run, or move players as part of rebuilding.
Three days into 2024, the Virden Oil Capitals of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League tweaked their blue-line by trading for defenceman Tyler Dodgson (2004) from the Winnipeg Blues (6-21-2-0).
In return, the West Division-leading Oil Caps (21-5-2-2) sent D-man Rhylan Baxter (2006) and forward prospects Aidan Wuerfel (2005) and Morgan Waddell (2006) to the Blues.
Virden general manager and head coach Tyson Ramsey was excited to add depth to his blueline.
“We are very excited to add Tyler to our group. He is a highly intelligent, puck-moving defenceman that can play in all situations and brings leadership and experience on and off the ice,” he said.
“He makes us much deeper on the back end and will be a great complement to our group.”
With the Christmas break over, the Oil Capitals are back in action with three games against west division opponents.
On Friday, Ramsey’s team goes north to face the sixth-place Swan Valley Stampeders (8-22-2-0). Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
Then on Saturday it’s another road trip as Oil Capitals face the second-place OCN Blizzard (20-10-0-2) at 7 p.m.
First home game for the Oil Capitals is on Jan. 9, when the Stampeders visit for a 7:30 p.m. tilt.
