• 60 YEARS AGO — Rick Hextall scored four goals and added two assists to pace Brandon past St. Boniface 10-2 in MJHL play at the Wheat City Arena.
• 50 YEARS AGO — The Waskada Comets moved into a second-place tie in the South Division of the SouthWest Hockey League with an 8-5 triumph over the Killarney Shamrocks.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Scott Beattie scored 22 points to lead the Killarney Raiders to an 87-34 victory over the Hartney Hornets in a Zone 9 high school varsity boys basketball game.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Scott Kozoroski and Mike Baranyk both had two goals and two assists as the Brandon Stingers defeated the Pierson Bruins 5-4 in SouthWest Hockey League action.
• 10 YEARS AGO — The Neelin Spartans got off to a winning start at Brandon University’s inaugural New Year’s Basketball Classic tournament on Friday. Paige Thomson put up 22 points for the Spartans as they topped the Souris Sabres 58-15 in the varsity girls’ side of the event. Sarah Palsen replied with five points to lead the Sabres.
