2019-20

Brandon 6, Victoria 3

Date: Jan. 24, 2020

BWK goal scorers: Luka Burzan (2), Ridly Greig, Lynden McCallum, Cole Reinhardt, Vincent Iorio.

Victoria scorers: Gary Haden, Kaid Oliver, Brayden Tracey.

BWK goalie: Jiri Patera.

Victoria goalie: Shane Farkas, Adam Evanoff.

Shots: 48-37 VIC.

PP: BWK 1-5. VIC 3-6.

Attendance: 3,408.

RECAP: Greig scored 15:23 into the first period, and by the time the teams went to the dressing room, the Wheat Kings were up 4-0. The Royals replied twice in the middle frame but Iorio’s power-play goal 7:34 into the third period restored the three-goal lead. The teams combined to take 15 minor penalties.

2017-18

Brandon 4, Victoria 2

Date: Oct. 21, 2017

BWK goal scorers: Linden McCorrister (3), Tanner Kaspick.

Victoria scorers: Tyler Soy, Matthew Phillips.

BWK goalie: Logan Thompson.

Victoria goalie: Dean McNabb.

Shots: 41-26 BWK.

PP: BWK 2-8. VIC 0-7.

Attendance: 4,360.

RECAP: McCorrister opened the scoring 5:26 in but Soy tied it 71 seconds later and the Royals took the lead in the second but McCorrister responded our minutes later to tie it up again. Defenceman Kale Clague earned his third assist on Kaspick’s winning goal 8:35 into the third period, with McCorrister finding the empty net for the hat trick. The teams combined to take 16 minor penalties.

2015-16

Victoria 4, Brandon 1

Date: Nov. 6, 2015

BWK goal scorers: Ivan Provorov.

Victoria scorers: Tyler Soy, Alex Forsberg, Dante Hannoun, Matthew Phillips.

BWK goalie: Jordan Papirny.

Victoria goalie: Coleman Vollrath.

Shots: 40-35 BWK.

PP: BWK 0-2. VIC 0-1.

Attendance: 4,578.

RECAP: Vollrath’s 39 saves were the story of the game. After Soy put the visitors on the board 2:10 into the game, Provorov tied it 11 minutes later. The winner by Forsberg came 5:57 into the middle frame, with Hannoun delivering the dagger later in the period.

2013-14

Victoria 5, Brandon 3

Date: Feb. 19, 2014

BWK goal scorers: Ryan Pulock, Tyler Coulter, Rihards Bukarts.

Victoria scorers: Logan Nelson, Tyler Soy, Steven Hodges, Austin Carroll, Keegan Kanzig.

BWK goalie: Curtis Honey.

Victoria goalie: Patrik Polivka.

Shots: 49-26 VIC.

PP: BWK 1-3. VIC 0-5.

Attendance: 2,702.

RECAP: Coulter put Brandon in the lead but Victoria tied it 16 seconds later and by the end of the first period, Victoria had a 4-1 lead and 21-6 edge in shots. Hodges also had a pair of assists, and in his first game in Brandon, Soy scored, something he did in all three games he played at Westoba Place.

2011-12

Victoria 4, Brandon 3 (SO)

Date: Jan. 14, 2012

BWK goal scorers: Dominick Favreau, Mark Stone, Michael Ferland.

Victoria scorers: Dakota Conroy, Jamie Crooks, Brandon Magee.

BWK goalie: Curtis Honey.

Victoria goalie: Keith Hamilton.

Shots: 50-42 VIC.

PP: BWK 2-2. VIC 1-4.

Attendance: 3,968.

RECAP: After Brandon took a 2-0 lead in the first period, the former Wheat King Conroy made it 2-1. Ferland’s goal, on which former Royal Kevin Sundher earned one of his two assists, restored the two-goal lead but Victoria tied it. The teams combined for an incredible seven unsuccessful shots in overtime, sending it to a shootout. Sundher sniped in the shootout, but so did Victoria’s Robin Soudek and Ben Walker.

AS THE CHILLIWACK BRUINS

2009-10

Brandon 3, Chilliwack 0

Date: Feb. 26, 2010

BWK goal scorers: Toni Rajala (2), Brayden Schenn Chilliwack scorers: None.

BWK goalie: Jacob De Serres.

Chilliwack goalie: Lucas Gore.

Shots: 44-25 BWK.

PP: BWK 0-5, CHI 0-4.

Attendance: 4,480.

RECAP: De Serres made 25 saves for the shutout, and Schenn’s winner, one of four he scored that season, came 15:45 into the second period. Aaron Lewadniuk had a pair of assists.

2007-08

Brandon 6, Chilliwack 3

Date: Feb. 27, 2008

BWK goal scorers: Jay Fehr, Matt Calvert, Brayden Schenn, Daryl Boyle, Colby Robak, Scott Glennie.

Chilliwack scorers: Oscar Moller (2), Brandon Campos.

BWK goalie: Andrew Hayes.

Chilliwack goalie: Mark Friesen.

Shots: 41-30 BWK.

PP: BWK 3-10. CHI 1-7.

Attendance: 3,054.

RECAP: Chilliwack had the perfect opening period on the road, going up 3-0. Brandon finally came alive 12:44 into the middle frame when Fehr scored and the game was tied after 40 minutes. Glennie had three assists and Calvert had a pair of helpers. Boyle scored the winner 4:16 into the third, and the Wheat Kings added a pair of insurance markers 83 seconds apart. The refs were busy, assessing 24 penalties.
