A second U18 AAA Westman Wildcats player has committed to the University of Manitoba Bisons for the 2024-25 U Sports hockey season.
Third-year Wildcat forward Kelsey Huibers is Brandon this fall to attend the U of M, where she will play alongside Wildcats teammate Addison Vines.
In 136 career games with the Wildcats, including tournament play, Huibers has 39 goals and 38 assists.
In U18 AAA Manitoba Female Hockey League play this season, the Wildcats team captain has four goals and six assists in 16 games.
As a rookie, she was a member of the 2021-22 U18 AAA MFHL provincial champions Wildcats team. She also represented Team Manitoba at the recent 2023 U18 national championships.
“We are so excited to have Kelsey join our program. (She) brings a level of compete and tenacity that will be a huge asset to our program,” said Bisons interim head coach Jordyn Zacharias.
“Seeing her grow as a leader over the past few years and ability to play multiple roles is something we look forward to seeing at the U Sport level.”
