Matheus Ruffini scored two goals, including the game-winner as the Brandon University Bobcats beat the Assiniboine Community College Cougars 3-2 in Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference men’s futsal at Henry Champ Gymnasium on Saturday.
Bryson Haywood scored the other goal for BU (3-1-0) while Theo Manias netted both for ACC (0-3-1).
The Cougars bounced back and tied the St. Boniface Les Rouges 4-4 as Manias struck twice again with Stanley Okoye and Paulo Pinto also finding the net.

The Bobcats dropped their first game of the season to the Providence Pilots, 4-3 on Joel Umeh’s hat trick. Cristian Rodriguez, Nathan Chubaty and Zach Wood scored for Brandon.
In the women’s game, Brandon won 11-1. Shanti Church, Tarin Ballan, Kenadie Janzen, Deja Newell and Pia Bokingkito scored twice each for BU while Katie Avison netted the lone marker for ACC.
BU also topped Providence 5-3 with a pair from Ashley Robinson.
In ACC’s late match, Summer Olson scored twice and Hannah Hiebert added a single, but Marlene Zarychta’s hat trick lifted Les Rouges to a 5-3 triumph.
The next futsal action is on Feb. 4 in Winnipeg.
