• 50 YEARS AGO — Lloyd Coates’ Glenboro rink of Bruce Kidd, Kevin Graham, and Milt Budd defeated hometown favourite Ken Meyers in the grand aggregate final of the 74th annual Wawanesa men’s bonspiel.

• 40 YEARS AGO — Jerry Sayer and Bev Clisby won city five-pin bowling singles championships on the weekend. Sayer had a total pinfall of 4,243 to beat runner-up Dave Pilon by 144 pins. Clisby totalled 3,898 pins, out-distancing runner-up Judy Grill by 180 points.

• 30 YEARS AGO — Keith Vassell scored 29 points and added eight rebounds as the Brandon University Bobcats dropped the Manitoba Bisons 78-66 in a GPAC men’s basketball game at the BU gym.

• 20 YEARS AGO — Scott Kozoroski of the Brandon Stingers scored the winning goal with 3:44 remaining in the third period to lead the SouthWest Hockey League to a 7-5 triumph over the Tigers Hills in a senior inter-league all-star game at the Murray Arena.

• 10 YEARS AGO — The Brandon University Bobcats women’s basketball team came up short on the road last night, falling 57-46 against the Trinity Western University Spartans in Langley, B.C. Cassie Cooke led the Bobcats (5-12) with 15 points, while Kaela Cranston scored 10.
