A female U13 prospects program has been developed to provide a competitive skill development program for first-year and second-year players.

Modelled after the current male Director’s Cup prospects, this program is designed as an introduction into the Hockey Manitoba U16 and U18 Program of Excellence (POE).

The mission of this program is to introduce prospective U18 players to the concepts and skills required to play at the national level before their entrance into the POE.

The program is open to 2011- and 2012-born female players.

Registration and tryouts conducted through individual regions, including Brandon, Southwest and Westman, with each region allotted a full roster of 12 forwards, six blue-liners and two goalies.

Winnipeg was allotted three full rosters.

This new program has operated during two weekends with the regional development weekend held at the end of March, while the female prospects tournament started this weekend in Portage la Prairie at Stride Place.
