The deals just keep getting bigger as the as the Western Hockey League trade deadline nears on Thursday afternoon.

In a blockbuster announced on Monday evening, the Saskatoon Blades sent 19-year-old defenceman Tanner Molendyk of Kamloops and 19-year-old forward Misha Volotovskii of Calgary to the Medicine Hat Tigers for 17-year-old forward Hayden Harsanyi of Calgary and 17-year-old defenceman Jack Kachkowski of St. Albert, Alta., plus first- and second-round picks in 2025, third- and fourth-round picks in 2026 and a fifth-round pick in 2028.

The Calgary Hitmen have also emerged as major buyers, making two more deals on Saturday.

They acquired 19-year-old forward Carson Birnie of Arcola, Sask., from the Red Deer Rebels for a package that included 16-year-old forward prospect Ethan Dundas of Regina, 17-year-old forward prospect Parker MacDougall of Victoria, a fifth-round pick in 2025 and a third-round pick in 2026.

They also picked up 19-year-old defenceman Sawyer Mynio from the Seattle Thunderbirds for 17-year-old forward Sawyer Mayes of Salmon Arm, B.C., 18-year-old defenceman Linden Burrett of Surrey, B.C., plus first-round picks in 2025 and 2026 and fourth-round picks in 2025 and 2026.

On Sunday, Seattle flipped Burrett to the Prince Albert Raiders for a sixth-round pick in 2025, and the Thunderbirds dispatched 17-year-old Kazden Mathies of Martensville, Sask., to the Saskatoon Blades for a fifth-round pick in
