IN LOCAL HISTORY

• 60 YEARS AGO — Reston Rockets won their second game of the SouthWest Hockey League season by defeating Foxwarren 6-5. Bruce Judd led the Rockets with three goals and an assist.

• 50 YEARS AGO — Cliff (Truck) Clisby and Dawn Tallant are the men’s and women’s five-pin bowling city singles champions, respectively.

• 40 YEARS AGO — Ron Lauder scored two goals to lead City Centre to a 4-2 win over Keystone Motor Inn Outlaws in a Shilo and District Men’s Broomball League game. Jeff Mortenson did all the scoring for the Outlaws.

• 30 YEARS AGO — Dan Willms and Jason Seaman scored twice to pace the Glenboro Nordics to a 9-6 win over the Carberry Plainsmen in Tiger Hills Hockey League Action. Rob Smith, Glen Tosh, Kyle Gluska and Syd Turner also scored for the winners.

• 20 YEARS AGO — Yanick Huberdeau scored the winning goal in the second period as the Birtle Falcons beat the SRS Bruins 4-1 Friday in the Westman High School Hockey League. Andre Huberdeau, Kirby Ashcroft and Kurtis Snell also scored for the Falcons, who led 1-0 after the first period and 3-1 after the second. Kyle Derhak had the Bruins goal.

• 10 YEARS AGO — Connor Gutenberg, Bradley Schoonbaert and Ty Lewis each had a goal and two assists as the Brandon Wheat Kings rallied to beat the Southwest Cougars 5-3 in on Wednesday in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League.
