Dewayne Thompson put up 24 points as the Brandon University Bobcats gave up a fourth-quarter lead and fell 100-87 to the Calgary Dinos in Canada West men’s basketball action in Calgary on Saturday.

BU was up until the final four minutes when U of C rattled off a 15-2 run to suddenly lead by 10.

Sultan Bhatti led BU (4-12) with 25 points while Noah Wharton dropped 31 for Calgary (13-3).

On Friday, Bhatti had 21 points and 11 rebounds while the Dinos had six double-digit scorers in a 111-69 thrashing.

The BU men trail Alberta (7-9) by three games but have the tiebreaker if they can manage to win at least three of their remaining four.

In the women’s game on Friday, Piper Ingalls led BU (2-14) with 17 points while Abbey Shand put up 13 in a 96-62 loss.

Ingalls paced Brandon in Saturday’s 99-66 loss with 24 points off the bench, while Mya Proctor netted a game-high 25.

With the loss, the BU women are officially out of playoff contention.

The Bobcats visit the Winnipeg Wesmen this weekend, then host the Saskatchewan Huskies to close out the regular season.
