60 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Retriever Club held its annual windup and carting away all the silverware were Scotty Gillespie with his dog Happy Playboy, Russ Scott with Shep of Arabee and Archie Robins’ Rob Roy of Reo Raj.

50 YEARS AGOBob Gladden scored two goals to lead the Brandon Sokol Fighting Falcons to a 5-4 14-and-under exhibition hockey victory over Elgin. Brandon received single goals from Glen Thordarson, Allan Thordarson and Brent Dunton.

40 YEARS AGO — Three members of the city champion Crocus Plainsmen headed the list of Brandon High School Basketball League all-stars. They are guard Dave Malowski and forwards Scott Draper and Wes Baker.

20 YEARS AGOKaleigh Strath and her rinkmates have a provincial curling title after all. The Souris skip led her team to the Manitoba high school girls title Saturday by defeating Shaftesbury’s Kaitlyn Lawes 4-3 in the championship final at the Souris Curling Club.

10 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Pizza Express Wheat Kings captured the Rural Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League championship on Thursday night in Birtle. Rikki Clark scored two goals to lead Brandon to a 3-1 victory over Birtle/Hamiota.
