60 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Bantam B All-Stars were held to a 7-7 tie by the Rapid City Rockets Bantam A’s in an exhibition game. Ron Burnell scored four goals for Rapid City, while Ken Watson had three for Brandon and Rob Crossman scored twice.

50 YEARS AGOBob Gladden, Keith Sowiak and Ken Stadnyk scored two goals apiece to pace the Brandon Sokol Fighting Falcons to an 8-2 exhibition major bantam win over Holland.

40 YEARS AGOKen Pringle scored three goals to lead the Boissevain Border Kings to a 7-1 rout of Virden Oil Kings in a SouthWest Hockey League playoff game.

20 YEARS AGO — Brandon’s own curling sensation Jill Officer, along with the rest of her championship rink, were honoured yes- terday with Sport Manitoba’s Silver Medallion Award of Excellence. Sport Minister Eric Robinson, congratulated Officer, Jennifer Jones, Cathy Gauthier, Cathy OvertonClapham and Trish Eck, of Winnipeg, the 2005 Canadian women’s curling champions.
