60 YEARS AGONettie Latcham and her foursome of Dora Wolfe, Ruth Watson and Georgina Kraeling, captured top honors in the Kullberg’s Event in the Brandon Ladies’ 29th annual bonspiel.

50 YEARS AGO — The Vincent Massey Vikings swept to an easy 67-24 victory over Neelin Spartans in the first game of the varsity girls’ best-of-three final in the Brandon High School Basketball League. Anne Thompson pumped in 24 points to lead the visitors, while teammates Nancy Sharratt and Debbie Lovatt chipped in with 16 and 11 respectively.

30 YEARS AGO Derek Gross ripped three goals to pace the Brandon Stingers to a 5-2 triumph over the Selkirk Fishermen at the Optimist Arena in a penalty-filled Manitoba Junior B Hockey League playoff game.

20 YEARS AGOBrook Bayes scored two goals to lead the Rivers/Elton Rage to a 4-1 triumph Saturday over the Killarney/Wawanesa Raiders and a berth in the Manitoba high schools A/AA hockey championship final.

10 YEARS AGOJoyce McDougall and her team of Barb Withers, Audrey Fleming and Mavis Brown are provincial Golden Gals curling champions.
