60 YEARS AGO — The Deloraine Wheat Kings forced a deciding game in their provincial Junior B final as they topped Winnipeg River Heights 6-4 at Deloraine. Bob Shields and Marv Robinson both scored twice for the winners with Rich Bull and Tom Henry netting the others.

50 YEARS AGOLawrence Daniel and Gary Draper scored two goals each to pace Kenton to a 6-3 victory over Rivers in the opening game of their North Central Hockey League best-of-three semifinal series.

40 YEARS AGOLee Ransom and Don Morrison both scored two goals to lead the Deloraine Royals to a 7-5 win over Ste. Rose Royals in a SouthWest Hockey League playoff game.

30 YEARS AGO Scott Rouire scored twice and added a pair of assists to pace the Wawanesa Jets to a 5-0 playoff victory over the Holland Rockets. Matt Johnston, Sean Raison and Wayne Salmon also scored for the winners.

20 YEARS AGOTroy Gervais scored 6:06 into overtime as the Pierson Bruins stunned the Boissevain Border Kings 3- 2 Sunday to move into the SouthWest Hockey League final.

10 YEARS AGO — Virden’s Kaleigh Hole finished fifth in the women’s pentathlon event in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport indoor track and field championships on Thursday in Windsor, Ont.
