• 60 YEARS AGO — Vincent Massey girls won the Zone 9 hoops title for the third consecutive year with a win over Souris Collegiate. Members of the team include: Linda McInness, Sue Smith, Jan Lowry, Judy Purse, Bev Laird, Jaye Jacobson, Darlene McKenzie, Joanie Foster, Vailla Hoggan, Dana Rungay and Shirley Stewart.
• 50 YEARS AGO — Souris Elks, receiving single goals from Stan Furman, John Dell, John Graham and Gary Davidson, doubled up on Russell Rams 4-2 in SouthWest Hockey League playoff action.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Spectrum Sportsmen erupted for five unanswered goals in the third period and defeated Elkhorn Canadians 7-4 to win a SouthWest Hockey League playoff series. Brian Simpson and Gene Vestby scored two goals each with Lavern Popple, Kevin Malchuk and Randy Markewich added singles.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Brittney Phillips scored two goals to lead Souris past Assante Predators of Brandon 4-0 in the final of the Hockey Manitoba provincial female bantam Rural A championship.
