• 40 YEARS AGO — Brad Carefoot’s goal with 12:55 to play proved to be the winner as Ste. Rose Royals edged St. Andrew’s Aces of Winnipeg 5-4 in the opening game of the MAHA Intermediate A final. Neil Hopfner, Brian Hopfner, Dan Lapointe and Blair Hopfner also scored.
• 20 YEARS AGO — The Plante brothers, Tyler of the Brandon Wheat Kings and Alex of the Calgary Hitmen, both call Brandon home but are getting set to square off in the Western Hockey League’s Eastern Conference semifinal.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Six Westman products are set to conclude their Manitoba Junior Hockey League careers with the Portage Terriers. Tanner Jago, Carson Perreaux, Landon Peel, Brett Orr and brothers Shawn and Brad Bowles will compete for the national Junior-A championship with Portage serving as host.
