Boissevain’s Danika Nell pitched her NCAA Division I softball team to a conference title on Sunday, and is set to lead the Boston University Terriers into regionals at Oklahoma University this weekend.
The freshman phenom pitcher threw seven scoreless innings in relief as BU came back to beat West Point 3-2 in the Patriot League final.
The former Westman Magic star and three-time high school provincial champion with the Boissevain Broncos and Vincent Massey Trojans was named to the all-tournament team.
Boston faces Oklahoma on Friday at 5 p.m. CT. The winners of Friday’s games play in what’s effectively a 1-2 Page playoff game on Saturday at 1 p.m., with the losers meeting in the 3-4 game at 4:30. The semifinal is at 6 o’clock.
The final is on Sunday at 3 p.m., but if the 1-2 winner loses, a second game begins at 5:30 p.m. to decide who moves on to the round of 16.
