Brandon Wheat Kings forward Roger McQueen has earned an invitation to Hockey Canada’s under-20 world junior selection camp, but is one of eight players who won’t be attending.

The camp, which is set for Sunday to next Saturday in Minneapolis, now includes four goaltenders, 12 defencemen and 20 forwards for several days of practices, scrimmages and exhibition games against Finland, Sweden and the United States in preparation for the world junior championship in Minneapolis and St. Paul from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5. Former Wheat Kings defenceman Charlie Elick of Calgary, who was traded to the Tri-City Americans last season, also earned an invitation.

The players will be split into Red and White teams for practices and an intrasquad game on July 29, before taking on Finland July 30, Sweden on Aug. 1 and the United States on Aug. 2.

The camp roster features seven returning players from last year’s club.
