A pair of men with ties to the Brandon Wheat Kings have new addresses in the hockey world.
Dave Lowry, who coached the club during the 2019-20 season that was ultimately cancelled due to the pandemic in March 2020, has landed as an assistant coach with the National Hockey League’s Calgary Flames.
Lowry, who previously worked for the Flames, has also served as an assistant with the Winnipeg Jets and Los Angeles Kings.
Meanwhile, 21-year-old Matt Henry of Prince Albert, Sask., has signed with the ECHL’s Tulsa Oilers. Henry spent two suspension-filled seasons with the Wheat Kings from 2022 to 2024, posting two goals, one assist and 240 penalty minutes in 94 games.
He didn’t play last season, which would have been his overage year.
