Kiyanna Arevalo scored Assiniboine College’s first-ever goal on Cougars Field in a 3-1 loss to the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers to open the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference women’s soccer season on Saturday.

In the men’s game, the Cougars lost 4-0.

On Sunday, the AC men scored their first goals of the season by Jafet Sandoval and Nelson Flores in a 4-2 loss to the Providence Pilots. The Providence women won 10-0.

The Brandon University Bobcats had Saturday off, then beat the host Blazers in Sunday’s women’s game.

Brogan Henry picked up four goals and three assists, while Jorja Hoad and Kenadie Janzen scored twice each.

The Bobcat men fell 4-0.

Next weekend, Brandon hosts Providence on Saturday and St. Boniface on Sunday.

The Cougars visit Les Rouges on Saturday in Winnipeg, and have Sunday off.
