Camilo Rodriguez scored twice, with Bryson Haywood and T.J. Bodunrin adding singles as the Brandon University men’s soccer team sent their seniors off in style with a 4-0 victory over the defending Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference men’s soccer champions on Sunday.

Haywood and captain Nathan Chubaty were recognized before the victory over the St. Boniface Les Rouges to remain atop the league standings at 8-2-0.

BU leads Canadian Mennonite University (7-2-1) by two points, with games against Providence (3-4-2) and Assiniboine (0-11-0) remaining.

On the women’s side, Brandon (9-1-0) beat USB 6-0 as Brogan Henry scored two goals and added two assists, with Jorja Hoad, Bien Van Berkel, Abby-Jo Wark and Kenadie Janzen also scoring.

Josie Black earned the two-save clean sheet on her senior day, as she was recognized along with Janzen, Tarin Ballan, Molly MacPherson-Blair, Emilie Dornez, Henry and Van Berkel.

The Assiniboine College Cougars fell 2-0 to the St. Boniface Les Rouges on Saturday.

In the men’s game, the Cougars lost 2-1 as Deion Grant scored the lone goal for AC.

On Sunday, the Assiniboine men bowed out of playoff contention with a 2-0 loss to the Providence Pilots.

The AC women went down 8-0, and will need to beat BU in the season finale at Cougars Field next Sunday to have a shot at the post-season.

The Bobcats visit the Pilots next Saturday with first-place and home-field advantage for the women’s playoffs on the line.

If the Pilots beat Les Rouges on Thursday, the winner of Saturday’s game locks up first place due to the head-to-head tiebreaker.

The playoffs are on Oct. 25-26, with the top seed hosting.
