60 YEARS AGO — Carberry upended Neepawa 15-6 in Beautiful Plains Football League action. Gord Duncan, Elgin McCann and Les Smart led the Caberry assault.

50 YEARS AGO — Two goals by Dale Scott helped Dauphin Kings to a 6-4 MJHL victory over Brandon Travellers. Cam Carefoot, Vern Jebb, Frank Constant and Greg McPhee added single goals for Dauphin.

40 YEARS AGO — Souris Sabres had a 21-14 victory over Boissevain Broncos in Rural Manitoba High School Football League action. Scott Webber combined with quarterback Warren McBurney on a 105-yard pass-and-run to pull the Sabres even. Gary Pomeroy’s six-yard plunge with five minutes left to play put the game out of reach.

30 YEARS AGOKeith Vassell and Shawn Gray both hooped 20 points to lead the Brandon University Bobcats men’s basketball team to a 99-87 win over their alumni.

20 YEARS AGOKyle Winters made 22 saves to lead the Southwest Cougars past the Kenora Stars 6-0 in a Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League game here Saturday. Cale Jefferies, Bryce Lamb and Del Cowan all scored twice for the Cougars.

10 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Wheat Kings said goodbye to respected 20- year-old player Quintin Lisoway, who they released, and named Macoy Erkamps captain as they prepared for the Swift Current Broncos.
