• 60 YEARS AGO — Deloraine Colts completed their Cinderella story at Souris as they whipped the Canucks 21-0 to capture the Southwest High School Football League pennant. Lineman Ken Michaluk pounced on a Souris fumble in the end zone for Colts’ first touchdown.
• 50 YEARS AGO — Ken Buchy, something of a surprise cut by coach Trevor Fahey seven days earlier, was returned to the varsity roster of the Brandon University hockey Bobcats.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Neelin quarterback Jason Lorenowicz threw three touchdown passes — 32 and 45 yards to Mike Adams and a 25-yard strike to Cam Heming — to help the Neelin Spartans edge the Dauphin Clippers 34-33 in a Rural Manitoba High School Football League playoff game. Lorenowicz and Warren Richardson also rushed for touchdowns.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Mike Leclerc scored three goals as the Brandon Wheat Kings dumped the Prince Albert Raiders 6-4 for their ninth straight WHL victory.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Brandonite Israel Idonije had his most productive game as a Chicago Bear Sunday in a 28-3 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Idonije registered his second career sack in the fourth quarter when he hauled down Viking pivot Daunte Culpepper for an eight-yard loss with 2:44 remaining. Idonije made two other tackles on the day including one for a loss.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Kyle McDonald scored two goals and set up another as his hometown Neepawa Natives edged the OCN Blizzard 5-4 in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
