Christian Murray and Matheus Ruffini scored to lead the Brandon University Bobcats to the 2-0 victory they needed to capture the No. 1 seed for the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference men’s soccer playoffs on Sunday.

The Bobcats defeated the Assiniboine College Cougars at Cougars Field, finishing 10-2-0 after a 3-2 triumph over the Providence Pilots on Saturday.

Ruffini also hit the net, while Camilo Rodriguez netted a pair for BU.

The BU women tied Providence 2-2 on Saturday on a pair of Jorja Hoad markers.

Needing just a tie to secure the top seed on Sunday, Brandon dropped Assiniboine 6-0 to eliminate the Cougars from playoff contention.

Both Bobcat teams will host the final four this Saturday and Sunday.

The women will face the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers, then the men take on the Pilots at the Healthy Living Centre field in Saturday’s semifinals.

The other semifinals will take place at Cougars Field.
