• 50 YEARS AGO — The varsity boys’ team from Crocus Plains came up with the highest placing from a Brandon school in history when it placed third in the recent provincial high school cross-country running championships. The CP team was paced by the third-place finish of Doug Scott. Mark Kellman finished 12th, Hank Denbow 14th, Mike Corrigan 24th and Doug Dick 30th to round out the team standings.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Darrell Mansoff of Brandon will receive a chevron from the American Bowling Congress for rolling an all-spare game.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Troy Stewart and Brent Madill both scored twice to pace the Yellowhead Chiefs to a 9-4 triumph over the Winnipeg Warriors in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Teagan Hunter was named tournament MVP as the Crocus Plainsmen varsity girls volleyball team knocked off the Saskatoon St. Joseph’s Guardians 25-14, 25-18 to capture the championship of the Mustang Volley at Mount Royal Collegiate.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Carmen Ross had 23 kills and eight digs as the visiting Virden Golden Bears swept the Vincent Massey Vikings varsity girls’ volleyball team in the Westman High School Volleyball League.
