• 60 YEARS AGO — Boys of 12 A at BCI trounced the girls’ field hockey team in a challenge game at Central School grounds. The boys’ 3-1 victory was due to goals scored by John Trefiak, Scott McDonald and Barry Eyjolfson.
• 50 YEARS AGO — Brandon Travellers belted West Kildonan North Stars 11-5 behind the two- goal performances of Ray Allison, Kirk Fuller and Randy Markewich.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Wally Tetzlaff and his rink of third Doug Carvey, second Lynn Wright and lead Bill Good stole their way to a 6-5, 11-end victory over Brian Moffatt in the all-Brandon final of the Keystone Classic cash bonspiel.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Jason Glutek’s two goals powered the Brandon Stingers to a 3-1 triumph over the Gimli Vikings in a Manitoba Junior B Hockey League game. Mike Filipchuk also scored for Brandon.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Down 3-0 after the first period, the Brandon Wheat Kings found a way to make their situation a whole lot worse. The Wheat Kings spotted the Chiefs a 5-0 lead in a little more than 20 minutes and fell 6-3 in the second game of their Western Hockey League U.S. Division road trip in Spokane.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Goaltender Riley Lamb of the Yellowhead Chiefs is the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League’s Player of the Week.
